Abstract/Index
Globalization and borderless electronic communication have brought great advantages to individuals. However, at the same time, the increased exploitation of personal data by the private sector and reported intelligence gathering of personal data via the Internet have generated widespread international concern. In particular, this thesis aims to analyze the two legal system, namely those of the European Union (EU) and of the United States of America (US) frameworks. The European Union and the United States have strong commercial ties. Transfers of personal data are an essential part of the transatlantic relationship, especially in today’s global digital economy.
