Abstract/Index

Data privacy and security in the European and national scenario: personal biometric data in the digital era and related emerging issues. The European legal framework: the evolution and development of the concept of privacy and the introduction of the GDPR. The Italian case: national legislative adaptation to the GDPR and the role of the Italian data protection authority. The value of personal biometric data and the legal concerns. The analytic case studies of virtual mirrors and virtual fitting rooms: comparative assessment of their biometric data security systems. Methodology of the case study analysis and research. Operational and descriptive aspects of the two digital-fashion tools. Privacy concerns of the two interactive “try-on” technologies. Regulatory compliance, risks and potential liability associated with biometric recognition. The possibility of misuse and leaks of users’ information. Option to close data protection gaps and future perspectives.
