The historical context of the “Trieste issue”. A look at the roots of the "Trieste issue". The communist party and the Slovenian and Croatian irredentist movements between Italianity and Slavicisation in the period before the second world war. The beginning of the second world war on the outskirts of Trieste. The Italian government until the end of 1944 and the concerns of diplomacy for Venezia Giulia. The end of the second world war and the beginning of frantic Italian diplomatic activity to protect the Italian identity of Venezia Giulia.
