Hypothesis 1: target ESG compliance increases the likelihood of completion of the deal. Hypothesis 2a: target ESG compliance increases the deal premiums the acquirer is willing to pay for the takeover. Hypothesis 2b: target ESG compliance is already incorporated in the share price.
