Abstract/Index

Black music and its power to always speak the truth. How black music has reflected the sentiments of times. Brief excursus about music and politics. The black power movement (social movements). The history of rap and Kendrick Lamar. Starting from current times, the introduction of hip hop and its evolution, mainly focusing on the art of rap. The duality of rap. Artist of our times that represents the history of black music: Kendrick Lamar. Who is Kendrick Lamar and how his albums impact modern society (today’s music as a variant of modern capitalism). The continuity of the album with the music that has preceded it (its connection with jazz). From rap to gospel. From black music to soul: a vehicle for protest and social change (urban movement and civic committees and non-violent approach). Our modern world and its connection with jazz from its roots in the twenties. The birth of protests songs in the US: spiritual and gospel music as both an escaping and testimony method of slavery.
