Theoretical framework. Defining the concept of island and insularity. Principle of territorial cohesion. The EU’s approach to insularity and the challenges of islands. Key challenges for islands in the EU. Eu regulatory and policy instruments addressing insularity. The role of EU institutions and advisory bodies: representation and initiatives. Macro-regional & national-level strategies and policy instruments. Assessing current policies, proposals and future directions for EU policy on insularity.
