Background to the Israeli-Palestine conflict: a legal reconstruction. Pre-1945 period: the use of self-determination to advocate for territorial legitimacy. UN resolutions: the security council and general assembly’s role in the conflict since 1947. The legal status of the Occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) since 1967. The advisory function of the international Court of justice. The legal basis, origin and evolution of the ICJ’s advisory function. The purpose and impact of advisory opinions in international law.
