Abstract/Index

From 1956 to present day. Drawing up of Moudawwana in 1956: family law reform of independent Morocco. Evolving role of Moroccon women. The prominent role of women: activism, women's movements and feminism in Morocco and in the MENA region. Modern challenges for Moroccan women in present-day society: are gender gaps closing? Budgetary resources and institutional arrangements not proportionate to the scale of challenges: equality is not clearly a policy priority.
