The space economy, the satellite industry, its past growth with a brief historical overview. Today’s satellite industry, how it is innovative, and how it affects the growth of the space economy as a whole. Economic and social impacts and technological innovation bought by the new satellite industry. Analysis of the economics of satellites, with explanation on constellation size, designated orbit, and the advent of small satellites. The segments of the satellite industry, service offering, competition among firms and launch capabilities. The geopolitical, environmental and economic barriers affecting the satellites industry and how they could be brought down in the future, including future trends. European space start-ups, their jobs creation and other benefits, and open innovation with the ESA business incubation centers. Italy’s commercial space start-ups and ESA business incubation centers.
